Kingsday circus program

In collaboration with the Dutch Ambassy school ‘de Taaltoekel’ the SPAT team together with Anne Kuijpers organized a circus activity for Kingsday. A special day, enthusiastic parents, very nice children who were eager to learn and absorbed everything we offered.

(Kingsday is a national holliday in the Netherlands were we celebrate the birthday of the king. Each year we celebrate the holiday on 27th of April.)

The activity was built out of different circus elements; Juggling, Chinese plates, Acrogym, Flowersticks and even more activity’s. Each SPAT member was in charge of 1 activity that is within their skills and profession. We started the day off together with Anne Kuijpers by explaining the various stations and activities with the help of the SPAT members. He also gave a small demonstration where he showed off some of his own skills. Beside that we introduces all our SPAT members and explained something about sign language. We taught the kids some basic sign. After this we started with deviding the kids into groups and guided them to the different stations.

The day started very well and the kids had a lot of fun at all the activities. Our SPAT members were very involved with the children and did their absolute best. After the practicing at all the different subjects it was time for the closing performance for all the parents. Each child was allowed to choose a subject on which he wanted to give a performance. After some extra practice time, it was time to give a performance for all the parents led by Anne Kuijpers and the SPAT members. All children, parents and the SPAT teachers really enjoyed the performances and the energy and ethusiasm of the children really radiated.

In the end it was an really succesful day, where the children learned about different circus activities and where the briliant SPAT teachers created awareness for people with a disability.
