SPAT Project

SPAT stands for Sport and Physical Activity Trainer and is a project aimed at training people with a disability to become a sports teacher. We offer a full educational program in cooperation with universities and colleges from The Netherlands. Experts come to Ethiopia and provide training for people with a disability. After about two years they graduate as sports teacher and receive a diploma. We employ hem and delegate them to schools in and around Addis Ababa where they provide sports activities at schools for children with and without a disability.

The project started in 2009 and has had an enormous impact on the lives of people with a disability in and around Addis Ababa. The program has reached an entire generation of people with a disability and has created tremendous positive awareness in Ethiopia.
